It is with great sadness that the Belfast Old Instonians Association (B.O.I.A.) has learnt of the passing of its former Council member, Haydn Taylor.

Haydn was a figure whose dedication to the Instonian community was both profound and unwavering. As a fiercely loyal Instonian, his life was deeply interwoven with the spirit and legacy of the school and its alumni. His service extended to the very governance of our Association through his valued role on the Council, where his insight and commitment left a lasting mark.

Perhaps nowhere was his impact felt more keenly than within the Instonian Hockey Club. Haydn’s contribution there was truly immeasurable. He was more than a member; he was a pillar—dedicating countless hours, energy, and passion to nurturing the club’s growth, ethos, and camaraderie. His presence on the sidelines, in committee meetings, and among fellow players and supporters, embodied the very best of our community spirit. He helped forge not just a team, but a family.

Haydn’s legacy is one of steadfast loyalty, quiet dedication, and immense pride in the Instonian name. He will be remembered with deep respect and immense gratitude by all who had the privilege of knowing him.

At this time of profound loss, the Belfast Old Instonians Association extends its most heartfelt sympathy to his sons, Tim and Simon, and to the entire family circle. We share in your grief and honour the memory of a truly remarkable Instonian.
